Hello, I'm new to the forums and have a question. I'm thinking of putting a Samson rail on my CAR(mounts the the existing barrel nut), and wondered if I could use a full length rifle rail(12"). I realize i will have to chop or replace my front sight post to fit under the rail. Anyone have any experience with this? also, please post a picture, so that I can get a good idea of what it would look like(the finished product).

Thanks

If you get a drop in rail, i.e. not a free-floating rail, the answer is no.  If you get a free floating rail the answer is yes.

If you plan on using the existing barrel nut I am assuming (but I don't know cause I have never had a free-floating setup) then that means you are using a drop in model and it would not work.

If you want it to work I suggest this free-floater and then you have to chop/replace the front post and buy a flip-up front iron sight.  The rail is at the very bottom of this weblink.

The link below takes you where an example of this rail setup would be.  See molsen's rifle down near the bottom.
