Depends on where you're talkin'. I put a very light coat of grease on the buffer spring and grease on the hammer face, CLP on everything else.

Been taking to cleaning in mineral spirits, soaking in Mobil 1, rag dry and CLP the lower. Keep a tube of Larue machine gun oil in the stocks for field lubing.

 ETA: You want something on your rifle that will keep deposits suspended. Not turn into a thick paste when mixed with deposits like grease can/will. |

i always used axle grease in the buffer tube (keeps it quiet), and used Tetra gun grease and tetra lube spray on everything else.
dont go for the grease if you live where there's a lot of sand, like was said in a previous post. . . grease attracts sand and dirt like a magnet. i live in middle georgia, so all we have to worry about is condensation because its 90% humidity and 100* everyday during the summer. |

I prefer SLiP2000 Extreme Weapons Lubricant and on my most used BCG the Machine Gunners Lube from LaRue.
The Machine Gunners Lube last twice as long and doesn't evaporate as fast as regular lubes. I used to use CLP for a long time but these newer lubes are better in my experience with them so far. Machine Gunners Lube - LaRue Tactical site link http://www.slip2000.com/slip2000-EWL.html |

So.... If grease attracts sand and dirt like a magnet, does oil repel sand and dirt or does it just dissolve it like oxyclean?

I'm pretty sure RemOil also meets the MIL spec as Slip2000 and Breakfree. There is a MIL-xxxxxxxx number on the can

Rem oil is not a CLP and neither is miltech..miltech does not protect against rust and in that respect the remoil is probably better...but breakfree CLP or slip2000 I think is the best hell id use LSA and bore cleaner before remoil or miltech.

miltech. lots a lots the first three times (shoot it to get it HOT). im mean drench all the parts that get with hot fouling (the whole BCG, bolt, firing pin, cam pin, all of it, everything, dripping). after all the surfaces are treated they will be much easier to clean, and then just a tiny little bit on the contact surfaces.

Personal preference.
I prefer the liquid since there is less chance of it splashing back at me or getting on things that I don't want it to get on. |

yes, 10w-30 makes a great cost effective lube if you dont want to buy the CLP or miltech. |
