Other than looks - why did you change yours? (if you did)

I'm not interested in muzzle brakes - the 5.56 doesn't really need it, and the noise increase isn't worth it to me. But is there a good reason to take off a A2 and put on say, a Phantom?

Just curious - thanks,
Bob S.

If you have a 14.5" barrel and need a longer FH to get you up to the legal limit of 16" is a good reason.

Length is the most common reason on 14.5" Carbines.

Otherwise, muzzle brake function, supressor modularity, or just looks are all reasons to swap it.

For what it's intended to do, the Smith Vortex simply works much better.  I only shoot at dusk or night time a couple of times a year, but the lower flash really does help my eyes recover faster.  I can only imagine it would be even more important in my house when I really need it.

i ran a phantom on a 7.5in upper im sure the guys beside me at the carbine course appreciated that i did.
On longer barrels they help with flash hiding at dusk/dark.
They are sexier than the a2

Main reason for me is a 14.5" bbl.  Plus 5C2's are cool .

There are better flash hiders out there.

It's more of a compensator than a flash hider anyways.

My Phantom 5C1's do a better job of flash hiding than the A2

some also go with a noveske to increase reliability in SBRs

I'm not gonna lie, I think A2s just look boring

I always thought the A1 birdcage created the coolest flash. That doesn't mean I'm going to use it on my rifles. I wouldn't even see it, unless someone else was shooting it.
