Gentlemen (and the few ladies!),

Just a few weeks ago (early June, I'd guess) I created an account and started asking the usual newbie questions.  I never encountered a single negative attitude, and in fact got some really great advice both on the boards and from folks sending emails.  I'd never owned an AR before, and I was a little intimidated.

Well, yesterday I picked up my new Colt.  No desire to start an argument or a peeing match, but I'm really happy with my purchase, and I think I've chosen a good platform to start with.  I'm already thinking about something less manuverable for terrorizing paper from long distances, but this will tide me over till then.

Thanks to all of you who helped me directly - but I also want to say I really appreciate everyone here.  Even when you're not answering a question or if you're just talking smack, your opinions and experiences really help those of us who are new to this hobby/calling/lifestyle/addiction.  I initially thought I'd just get some info and butt out, but now I think I'm going to join the team - I figure this way even though I don't know anything yet I can do my small part to keep this site up and running so other FNG's like me will have a place to start.

Before this starts to sound like an Oscars speech (too late, I guess), I'm done.  Thank you guys - I really think you're a great bunch!

Congrats on your choice and enjoy. This is indeed a fine site for all things AR. You will inevitably encounter a negative attitude, but they are far and few between. Even then, it can be chalked up to as many different oppinions as there are AR's.
As stated, you will need to post some pics of your trophy so others can drool.

Okay, okay I get it!!  I'll shoot some pics tomorrow and get it posted - it's still in need of a serious cleaning, though!!

I guess now I need to stock up on mags before Inauguration Day  

You didn't even tell us which model Colt you bought.
