I need a selector switch.  Who makes the coolest design and why?

KAC ambi.

(can make your own with a Stag or LMT ambi. )

I like the Rock River Arms star safety. I use the standard left sided model but I see they have an ambi version.

I find it easy to quickly flick on and off safe. If you've ever done drills in a carbine course you would appreciate it.

I found I liked the RRA raised star.

It may be ugly, but I like the DPMS over sized selector for long range scoped ARs.

Reduce the J-spring tension.  You need some, most are well over what is necessary.  That also helps with the semi autos in helping the trigger pull.  Most military rifles don't have this problem as they are not fired full auto.

BTW, you can always use bushings to compensate for wear.  Steel will last a long time.  Weld repair not so much unless the receiver is heat treated after, then there is the possibilty of dimensional change/warpage.  On a RR, bushings over weld, any day.

+1

Any selector that goes to "Auto" is the best one.

I'm not a big fan of the ambi selectors.  The "other" side runs into the shooting hand.  I had a set on for about 2 days, and ditched it.

This is why you modify them. It becomes instantly transparent, yet easily usable.

The pins stay. The 1st gen KNS pins are much better than the 2nd IMO. No egged holes on this RR

Do they come from Knights already modified like that one?

The only ones I could find on their web page didn't have the scallop cut on the selector like that one does in the photo.
