awsome!
looks really nice! have fun with it and dont forget to post pics! |
Nice build...looks good but I would recommend a BUIS also and a blue force gear vickers 2-poing sling...
Congrats, I've had nothing but great shooting w/ my Bushy 14.5". Thinking about getting a Bushy 20" now for an A4 build.
Good shooting! |
Finally 3 days. Now I can answer questions and say thanks for the nice comments.
Why not? When I was younger I seen a rifle with one. I always wanted one so I built a rifle with it. Thats the truth. |
Looks great! SIR is a solid piece of kit. It's a little old school now with all the lighter weight stuff out there, but still super cool and is actually used by the pros.
Nice looking, well thought out rifle. |
I was not concerned about weight. Im not going in the jungle or to the desert any time soon. It does weigh quite a bit. Ill have to weigh it when I get home from work. It weighs a sh#t load with a 100rd drum in it. Oh well, its for shooting and I plan on doing that very soon. |
That's not so bad. Pretty much on average with the other railed M4s seen on here. |
ARMS!? That ain't gonna get you a date for the prom around here!
Did you try the LMT? It might work.... |
Everyone likes different set-ups. I happen to like the ARMS rail. Its solid and lite. It does what I wanted. LMT, Daniel Defense or Surefire there all good. I just happen to like the looks and functionability of the ARMS.
Guess were in the minority around here. I also like my 50C ( hangs head in shame) ETA: Nice rig! |
They work fine, they're just kind of big and clunky looking compared to more modern set ups.
Agreed. They are a little on the wide side, but the feel was part of what made my decision. I hear they have a "slim-line" model as well, but I've yet to see or hold one. If I had to add a negative, it would be that you need to buy ( yes, an ARMS BUIS ) to complete the package as the top rail comes back so far that only the 1st slot of the 1911 rail is available for use. Thats the trade-off for the bi-level rail. I do like the Omega and look forward to getting the Larue BUIS to use on that upper. Time and money...time and money... |
I like the big chunky look. It makes it look mean. I have a vertical grip on it so I dont notice it as much.
Stop knocking on the rail choice guys... it actually helps reduce the recoil!!!
Nice Rifle, just wandering what those surefire's go for.
Take it easy-n-at, Jeff |
Nice rifle. I am imagine the SIR + Surefire M900 adds some weight to the front end. Looks good though.
I got the surefire on ebay for $350. It was new in the box still had factory stickers on it. Im very happy with it. I have seen them on here in the EE for $400.

...love the sir...reminds me kinda of my setup...great build man!

Very NICE
I had good luck with my Bushy A1 14.7 carbine & A1 20inch hbar Ran 100% I updated my 14.7 with a LMT M4 14.5 upper MUCH BETTER than HBAR 14.7 and just as good as my LMT Defender m4 |
mikecro1, Nice rifle. Im going to order a ARMS buis. I just bought a safe so Im trying to save a little money before I spend more.
I rebuilt my back stop on saturday. I shoot in a 10' high x 20' wide x 15' thick pile of dirt in the back yard. There is nothing behind me for probably a mile or more. Im going to site in the eotech this week. Ill let you know how it shoots.
Man, Ohio weather sucks. I hope it dries out enough to shoot this weekend.
tell me about it, we've had the same kind of weather here in St. louis MO, rains a few days, sunny and very windy for one, then it rains a few more....**sigh**
I love my S.I.R. as well. I got mine when there was no bi-level carbine length. With a scope I like having a solid 1 piece rail on the top to eliminate any flex. Remember it's your gun, so do you what you like.
The other guys can drink the kool aid while we drink our beer! http://www.fullvolumesound.com/stuff/Guns/DSCF0178.JPG |
looks good, nice rifle and If you like the sir, who cares. You could of bought cheap junk.
Instead you bought real and battle tested gear. Good job. |
Thanks for all the comments. I plan on shooting it this weekend.
Slaytex- Nice rifle. Is that a ARMS #40 rear sight. I bought a LMT BUIS and it dont fit with the rail on it. Im looking at the ARMS #40. |
Yes, it's the normal #40 rear sight not the low profile one. It just barely clears the scope as well. I'd go Larue but ARMS has yet to let me down, so i'm sticking with them. |
Is that a ARMS throw lever mount on the Eotech? Which one is it? I would like to do that but am not sure if they make one to fit my 557. Sweet gun though.... |
