Had some questions on the "Build It Yourself" forum, posted here in case some of you don't browse that one.

Need some info on a SE marked BCG, unshrouded.

Smith Enterprises??  Seems like they don't provide them now, what's the history??

FSB's held to barrel by roll pins, not taper pins.

Did some manufacturers like DPMS do this??  Or is this most likely a home project by someone that didn't have a taped drill bit??

Thanks.

IIRC, the Smith Enterprise carriers became Young carriers or vice versa.

Here is a Smiths ---> SE Carrier photo - left .....and Right side

Both are hard chromed.

The Youngs Mfg. is similar (pictured below) and may actually be the original (has a US Patent#)

someone can offer clarification, but I think they are related

Advantage is the hard chrome finish for easier cleaning and smoother surface.

The National Match is different (bottom), and about $100 premium over the standard M16 version

photos of the Youngs, courtesy of PK Firearms - a good place to get them.

and finally, I heard of the roll pins use in FSB, but do not recall the maker.

good luck with your build.     .......HTH

what makes the National Match worth the premium price other than it looking great?

The Young NM BCG pictured above looks to be the "lite" version.  There are also normal AR & M16 versions as well.
