Any thoughts or info on the LMT Defender? I'm looking at one but I can't find much info on it.

My first and only AR is a Defender, love her to death.  You'll be very satisfied with one should you get it.  And yes, they are ever so slightly purple, a friend has dubbed mine the purple people eater.  But that is the only negative I can come up with, assuming that thats a negative and you don't like purple.

This is best pic I have of "purple"

Mine are both LMT.  It's cool even if just to have the name on it.  Read this.

I have a complete LMT rifle. Upper and lower match exactly (gray-black), though I bought them seperately.

A while ago there was a thread on what someone should buy to most match the M4. At the time I was advocating a complete 6920/6921, despite the FCG pin size difference. I would now fully recommend an LMT lower, and I am very happy with the LMT upper, despite the questionability of a true 5.56x45mm NATO chamber.

I run guns hard with infrequent cleaning intervals (Slip 2000 is a god-send), and the LMT outruns most M4's I have used.

Edit to add color.

I've got 3 of them.  Great weapons!

Waiting to be born. The purple may be a camera issue. Mine is as jet black as can be but the pic says otherwise. At some point I think I'm going to let you guy's tell me what I want on the upper. My other AR is an Armalite knockoff. This weapon will have no purpose other than killing paper out to 300 yards.

I have both an LMT lower and upper (also bought separately) and both are black, not purple.  I think they're top-notch and definitely satisfied with my purchase.

I'm planning on another 14.5" and a 10.5", wouldn't care if they're purple or not, I heart LMT.

My LMT Defender 2000, I bought the upper and lower separately, they sell them now as a complete rifle but you save more buying separately

I just upgraded mine with KAC M4 RAS rails, VFG and 300m BUIS, LMT M16 BCG, Magpul MIAD grip, MAGPUL CTR stock, LaRue QD mount and EOTech.

I've also got two Colts, I'm very satisfied with my LMT, you won't get disappointed.

My M4gery is built from a Defender 2000.  Runs like a top and looks good too.  Also have a 16" RECON that is built on an LMT lower.  Currently building a MK18 clone that will have both an LMT upper and lower.  Can't go wrong with LMT!

I have a factory LMT rifle from Pete at Legal Transfers.

My rifle is a flat black - matching finish .. and as someone else pointed out;

No Deer
No Venomous Snakes
No Ponys

I have owned a Colt 6290 and the LMT trumps it quality wise..

No oversized fire control pins or shaved bolt carriers on my LMT. The last Colt 6290 I held (NIB) had so much slop in the receiver fit you could slide in a a credit card.

people who don't understand what it means to own a high quality item, default to the fit/finish argument to combat logic...

my LMT is purple
my colt had scratches

i have an LMT defender 2000 lower that i used on a 6.8 SPC SPRish build... it looks "dark navy blue" in pictures... but pitch black in normal lighting...

I bought an LMT lower to go under my MRP. Just seemed like the right thing to do.

Hard to go wrong with LMT.

You down with LMT? Yeah you know me.

ETA: Yup, the lower is purple.

Couldn't be happier with mine. Both my upper and lower are BLACK, not even a hint of purple. 100% reliable so far and quite accurate.

HUH?

Was informed by Dean Caputo that all chambers that he has seen, other than Colt barrels, have some slight deviance from the true 5.56mm NATO chamber. Ned Christiansen's 5.56mm chamber reamer cuts exact 5.56mm chambers. The chamber reamer was used to fix an LMT MRP barrel as reported by Mike Heuser.

I am, however, not bothered by that. My LMT merrily chews through M855 fed in large quantities, so issues with chamber fouling or constrictive throat are not an issue.

I assume that the uppers contracted to the military meet all MILSPEC requirements, but I cannot verify.

Thus- LMT 5.56x45mm NATO chamber is questionable but not actionable in civilian sales.

interesting... so the I am going to assume that the chamber is tighter than the NATO spec? which would account for the increased accuracy of LMT barrels over colt...
