I have read on two places now that the selector switch on an AR-15 type rifle should not be able to be put in the "SAFE" position if the rifle is not cocked.

Mine does go to the safe position.  Is there an issue with this?  Any help?

(Man, I am feeling a little overwhelmed with this rifle).

After you pull your trigger on an empty chamber and it goes click (hammer drops), you can put it on safe?

Yes.

Is it possible it has something to do with the non-standard trigger (McCormick drop in single stage?)

Thanks.

Any other ideas?

Thanks.

I would say it very well could be the trigger. I had one from Jard or whatever that would do that.

Is it something you think I should worry about?

Selector still works, meaning, put it to SAFE, and the trigger won't pull, put it to FIRE, and the hammer doesn't fall until I pull the trigger.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I have a call in to McCormick, and they are going to have one of their people call me in a bit.

Okay, just got off the phone with Robert over at McCormick.

Says I have an older version of the trigger, and they have redesigned it.  He told me it is still safe to operate, but there are some advantages of the newer version.  Apparantly the old version did that.

He also said he was going to replace it, free of charge.
