Quoted: Is it really necessary to have the scope mounted THAT far forward? It just seems a little much. |
Seems a little much for who? When I setup weapons its either setup as a T&E for me, or its setup for duty use in final configuration. People who are familiar with my work and weapon concepts are very aware that I don't recommend an exposed gas block on anything that isn't pinned.
Shooting with body armor, and sometimes heavy armor means I am NTCH, and usually collapsed all the way with a stock. The Accupoint and LT mount allows for pushing the optic out farther, which enhances overall FOV, which is vital when you start looking at clearing buildings or doing close in work.
You may choose to set your weapons up differently based on the level of training and experience that you have, as well as the equipment you are operating with, and your specific parameters.
