i was looking into getting a 6.8 spc upper to put onto my colt lower. i found some interesting deals at model 1 sales.  BUT........will a 24" barrle give me any advantages over a 20" or 16" barrle?  thanks,   brian

In a word, no.

6.8SPC was designed to provide better terminal ballistics out of a carbine-length weapon out to around 300 yards, not to shoot sub-MOA at 600+ yards. Since you'd only ever put a 24" barrel on a long range precision rifle, it'd be wasted (relatively speaking) on a 6.8SPC platform. Plus, a 24" barrel will make your AR unwieldy and heavy.

If you want a round that can really use a 24" barrel, go with 6.5 Grendel. If you want to shoot 6.8SPC, your best bet is a 16" or 18" barrel - maybe 20" if you want an A2 or A4 clone.

If you get one, go with a company that actually gives a damn about their customers
