What you are talking about will send your ass directly to federal prison. DO more research. I'm sure others on here can give you the exact technicalities, but you cannot legally convert a Semi Auto Rifle to select fire except in some very specific instances, most of which fall into the category of "prohibitively expensive". |

1) Build a time Machine 2) Go back prior to 1986 3) Submit the required forms/fingerprints to the BATF to register you lower and pay your $200 tax 4) Return to the present with your registered lower and have fun. Or Pay $7K-$10 for a DIAS after submitting the appropriate paperwork (and $200 fee) to the BATF and possibly your state and getting your tax stamp. Then you can buy M16 parts and replace as needed (assuming you bought a lower capable of accepting such parts). Otherwise just go turn yourself in for illegal activities. It will be easier on you, and your dog won't get shot. |

this CAN be done *legally* by purchasing a Registered Drop In Auto Sear (RDIAS) or a regestered Lightning Link. the ATF views theses parts as machine guns, and they are legal to purchase and own [in most states] provided they were registered prior to 1986. the down side is it will cost between $7000 and $15000 for these parts. read up in the M16 section and do some research. you'll find all info you need to do it legally. doing it legally will only cost you about 10 bucks worth of scrap metal, but if your caught you *will* do time on federal charges. P.S.: not the best way to light off your membership here. |

any machining of the lower and you are commiting a big no no in the eyes of the ATF, if you would successfully be able to get it to work you would be in possesion of an Undocument but otherwise perfectly legal weapon.
unfortuntly the ATF has a diffrent opinion on undocumented things than the rest of the Federal governments does, and has a hard on for prosecutions, if you were an illegal wanting to cross the border i would say go for it, but since your dealing with a diffrent set of assholes, I would not even think of doing this or you are lieble to be charged with conspiracy only sugestion would be a registered DIAS which cost over 10,000 dollars, conicedentally thats the same fine you could receive if fouond guilty |

Yup, mine was converted and it is fun... Lucky for me I bought the converion parts a few years ago when they were cheaper... As suggested, they will cost you about $7,500 - $11,000 these days (covering the low to the high) |

It great you came by and asked. Its very simple just pack up an over night bag or so and buy a first class ticket to Mogadishu. Once you land just head out to any arms dealer and buy whatever you want for less than $100 bucks. Odds are you will get many full auto for less than $100 total.
