Properties of 4150 Steel

It's not a whole lot different than 4140.  How much precision do you need?

ETA:  That page is saying 7700 - 8030 kg per cubic meter.  I calculate that as 0.27818 to 0.2901 lbs/cu. in.

ETA #2:  I looked up 4140 (aka chromoly) and its density is listed the same as 4150 (aka ordnance steel).

try googling "4150 steel density"

it will probably be in metric  (grams / cubic centimeters).

then just convert.

1 centimeter =~ 0.3937008 inches

1 kilogram =~ 2.2046226 pounds

1kg = 1000g

if you need better precision in the conversions, it is time to dig out the books and the big calculators

Alright, now how about a conversion from x1000 kg/m~3?

Edit above.

If you are trying to determine the alloy of the barrel by the weight you may as well give up now. 4140, 4150, and stainless all weigh close enough to the same weight per cubic foot that you won't see any measurable difference between alloys.

thanks for being so supportive.

No, that's not what I'm trying to do.
