I'v got a sporter with a slab side reciever and was curious when they quit making that style.  Thanks....

I have a GS serial numbered A2 from 1989 that is a slabside so they were still using them then.

I believe Colt went to the mag fence lowers when they started producing the "blue label" rifles in 1990 or 1991.

If I'm wrong, Ekie will be around to correct me shortly.

My first former Colt with a mag fence was a model R6551 Sporter Target rifle I bought in '91, no bayonet lug, no sear block and blue label box.
