If I get a new upper for my AR15, do I need a new bolt and carrier too? Or is it OK to just drop in the bolt and carrier I already have?

its best to keep the BCG w/ the origional bbl

h/w, USUALLY, there will be no problems using a used BCG w/ a new bbl or vice versa....

you can have the head spaced checked to be sure

Just use your old one and don't worry about it.  As long as its a quality bolt within milspec and doesn't have a very high round count, you should be fine.

I've seen a lot of claims that the bolt should stay with the upper, but would like to see some proof to back that up. The MSG factory rep says he swaps them around without a problem.
