Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Questions about the M4 Feedramp

I know it has probably been talked to death but my searches have not yielded a whole lot of info on the M4 feedramp.  I know it is to aid in feeding especially with full auto guns but I have read that they are not compatible with some barrels or receivers.  Could someone please give me the facts and a brief education about these as I will be building another 16" carbine in a few weeks and would like to be as informed as I can be.
