Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - 18" barrel with mid-length or rifle length gas system?

I am buying an upper with an 18" barrel and am wondering which gas system to go with. Are there any advantages to either? The price is the same for both uppers. Thanks.

Middy looks better and has shown vastly superior reliability to the carbine and rifle gas systems.  THe rifle gas system can't handle dirty actions as well as the carbine but the carbine sends the bcg back harder with a lot more recoil.  The middy is the best of both worlds.

thanks for the advice guys. i just ordered the 18" SPR middy with match barrel from ADCO. cant wait to go home on leave and shoot it.
