Will using the 22lr conversion kits have any adverse effects on barrel wear if used often. Will the lead bullets mess anything up?

No.

Just remember to clean the barrels of lead after use.

As mentioned, clean the barrel good and you may want to fire a few rounds of .223/5.56 after a range session with the conversion kit installed. Lead build up can block your gas port. A few rounds of .223/5.56 will ensure the gas port and gas tube remain open.
