Bought this beautiful SP1 yesterday for $1050. I intend to convert it into a 607 clone, but it's such a great rifle already I am struggling with modifying it in any way.

Enjoy it as is. I have one, and it's my absolute favorite! This is the AR-15 in its purest form, the way it was MEANT to be. Nice find!

Leave that poor old girl alone. "Old School" AR's deserve to be left in that pristine format. If you want to Gucci up an AR or build up a retro 607, find another host. There's something special about how light and fast handling those old SP1's/M16a1's really are.

Very nice find; I'd leave it as it is; but if you feel like wanting to change something on it to make the rifle look more like an early Model 601, swap the birdcage FH with an earlier duckbill style FH.

Take a wrench to it, part it out, build it how you want. There are a couple hundred thousand SP1's, no one will miss that one.
