Does anyone know of a company that makes gas piston conversions for the Ar15 upper?  I read in SAR a few months ago about a company I elieved was called "Aeres".  I can not locate them.  Anyone with a WEB Site or phone #?

Leitner-Wise Rifle Co. offers both gas piston uppers and conversions on existing uppers.

They have a forum in the industry section: www.ar15.com/forums/forum.html?b=2&f=171.

Hope this helps.

POF and LW are the only two i'm aware of, both can be found in the industry section. Don't hold your breath on the ARES though.

Ares Defense is here: www.aresdefense.com. However, similar to what Panzer mentioned, the guy is independently wealthy or something and likes to engineer, but is not necessarily "hungry" to finish developing his product and get it into the market. So, again, don't hold your breath. . . .

We do LW conversions.  Let me point out, it generally takes longer to do a conversion than a ground up build.  If you want something funky, or insist say on using colt componenets, I suggest you send new components for the build undrilled.  We spend alot of time truing the FSB's on most guns as there is no margin of error here as pistons need to be in straight alignment with the key on the carrier or you could have piston bind.

I belive this is a stumbling block for ares and their home kit.  Unless you have the ability to true a gas block which for us includes a $10,000 fixture, redrilling oversized holes and using oversized taper pins, there will be issues with 90% of installations at home.   There can be a small amount of cant with the LW system as the nozzle has a dog leg on it to adjust for it, but the money people spend on this stuff, any degree of cant is unacceptable to us.
