My ejection pattern was, with my old 16" HBar, vigorous and to my 5 o'clock position.

Now after installing a new 16" M4 profile barrel, and using the same bolt/bolt carrier, my ejection is slightly less vigorous (still throws the brass a good 6 to 8 feet) to my 2/3 o'clock position.

I have pulled, inspected, cleaned and lubed my ejector spring and pin.

Would the difference in barrel lug to bolt lug match up cause this?

I haven't had any failure to eject and the rifle is running 100% but I'm stuck trying to figure out what is causing this difference in the pattern of ejection.

any ideas??

Well different manufacturers have different gas port sizes.  For instance, Bushmaster is known for having very small gas ports which attributes a little to their accuracy (more surface area to stabilize the bullet.) and with more/less gas it pushes the bolt carrier back faster/slower obviously.  However I don't know what's happening with the whole change of direction.  Maybe the action is actually more vigorous and the brass is hitting the brass deflector harder and throwing it farther forward.  It would make sense b/c of Newton's 3rd Law
