I spent a week trying to do a digital camo job on my carbine (Duracoat), and the pattern didn't turn out too well.

Also, it peels here and there.

I'm planning on media blasting the thing and redoing the metal in Colt Gray, and the furniture in either Coyote or OD.

Opinions?

I like both.

I would say go OD.  That is me though.  I live in the Pacific Northwest so I am surrounded by a lot of green.

Or you could do a combo of both.

i'm having the same problem of trying to decide between the two colors.  both look cool and i think better than all black (although i am a big fan of the All Blacks in New Zealand) i'll have to make my mind up soon as i'll be buying some parts soon.

read many times in this forum that sand blasting is better.  look up Stickman's refinishing guide

Get both

Some manufacturers are switching to Foliage Green and will stop making OD Green.

Had Coyote at one time, it looks nice in pics but in person fails to impress.  None of my friends liked it either.  Therefore I say OD green.  Just purchased a Cav Arms set for my middy.

I say OD.  People say coyote fits in better in more places.  Mine is too light for my tastes, maybe if the Flat Dark Earth is any darker than coyote, I might do that.  May I ask why Colt Gray and not coyote rifle and coyote furniture or OD/OD?

Coyote Brown is much better cuz it blends in with both the desert and woodland environment very well.  That's why i snagged the CB vest when I was at Pendleton.

If you can get Magpul's older (darker) Coyote Brown, buy it.

Buy some Coyote Brown XT rail covers for your rail, it'll match a lot better.  Don't buy the tan, get Coyote Brown.

Of course, that IS the overwhelming purpose behind going with something other than target-indicator black.

Another option is Foliage Green, it's the "grey-green" in the new Army ACU pattern.  Much like sage green, it blends well in numerous enviornments.

A review can be found on www.militarymorons.com ....... Just scroll down to the updates, MM did the review on 03-08-06 as I recall.

Take a look at your enviornment, do you see more greens or more tans and browns.  Taking a good look at your surrounding enviornment should determine what color to go with.

If that Foliage Green looks the same as it does on their website in real life, I don't think it's a good choice.  IMO.
