What brand m16 bolt carrier assembly would you recomend for your ar?

I don't feel my recommendation is EXTREMELY valid as I've only bought one, a complete CMT, but it's been working great (approximately 300 rounds) and according to Bravo Company USA CMT manufactures USGI bolt carrier groups.  Bravo Co. also carries LMT which according to the site is USGI spec.

You might also drop Jason at JTAC Supply an email.  He'll do carriers w/ key but no bolt so if you'd prefer to use your current bolt anyway, you aren't paying extra for a part you won't use.  I believe he quoted me a price of $85 shipped for a CMT or LMT (not sure which) M16 carrier w/ key.  Bravo wouldn't do the carrier only but they're still very helpful and in Wisconsin so I went with them.

Good luck,
Scott

scooter260 has good advice, you can even get fully tested MPI bolts from CMT. i personaly use only Colt but i consider CMT/Stag to be top of the line stuff.

Colt, CMT, or LMT - any of which will treat you just fine....

are cmt aor lmt compltetly chromed, or just chrome lined?

if you don't want to pay for Clot, buy the CMT or a RRA, you will be happy.
chrome lined with fully shrouded firing pins.

I have 2 RRAs and 1 CMT and I am happy.

I use my half circle/open firing pin area Clot carrier as a paperweight on my desk. and in my opinion, that is all it is good for.

I have a Diemarco M16 carrier in my Colt 6520.  Its a different color finish than the black Colt Carriers, having a gray finish.  Anyone else have such a carrier?

Yeah!

Diemaco parts have been showing up in Colts for quite a while and vice versa. Since Colt now owns Diemaco the practice has become even more common.

If you want chromed exterior I would go with Y/M's 'NM' bolt/carrier.  The NM is just a sales gimmick, it won't improve your accuracy at all.

I'd get a COLT if you want a properly staked carrier key and don't want to do it yourself.  I've had the new CMT M-16 MP'd BCG and was not impressed with the staking job on the carrier.

Didn't see anyone mention Smith Enterprises....

I use RRA and a small bolt cutter makes a staking notch just like the colt although does not matter as long as the staking is done right.

I have Colt and LMT M16 BCG and would recommend them both.

Diemaco is now CLot of Canada.  Go with a CMT.  Now I wish POF would sell me a P416 carrier for my POF upper...

I'll mention them...

Good stuff, but you can find just as good at a cheaper price (I have a Smith M16 carrier purchased used from the EE).

CMT is one of those options.

I have two CLOT carriers, but I bought them lightly used otherwise I'd have gone with CMT (which have never failed me).

I use M16 carriers in all of my ARs for an extra 1% reliability and extra evilness.

I've never had any problems with my DPMS carriers, but I don't have an M16 carrier.  Some guys in full auto might tell you more about the M16 BCG...

So where can I purchase a Colt bolt and carrier (M16)?  I don't see them on most of the sites and I'm looking to get a spare bolt and carrier.
