I didn't see a thread tacked up about this, but can someone explain the difference between the SPR, DMR, Recce, ETC to me and pictures would be GREAT. A link to a page or thread explaining this woul dbe great also. I am not on here enough to have followed these rifles as they first appeared, but and looking to build something and would like to see what a few of these are like. Too many M4 builds it looks like. Thanks,  Terry

I don't know all of it, but the DMR originated as a USMC program and is a Designated Marksman Rifle, an accurized and Marine Corps customized M14.  Not to be confused with the M21, which is the US Army sniper version of the M14.

I asked a similar question a while back .... asking for a link to a site that may explain the technical differences .... unfortunately, no one gave me the time of day.

On behalf of Willie and myself ... I would like to say thank you for your replies  ... I have gotten more information from you three about the subject matter than on my previous post.

Thank's rifleman, Krackles and new-arguy!

I laughed when I saw that pic so I threw it in there.  Not sure why it has no BUIS or optic.  Might have just been one of those pose with the rifle and act like you are shooting it pics.

May be right. But they taped up our sights and had us shoot targets for instinctive shooting practice one time.  Course, with the lack of magazine ... you're probably right.

Thanks guys. That gives me a good perspective of the different types. Hmm, Maybe I'll start a wishlist for a Recce. I alreday have a 20" pony. Something short would be cool. Then again, I have my Form 1 in hand for when I get my receiver. TOO MANY DECISIONS!!!   Thanks,  Terry

Here ya go. I had a few clones made up a while back.

Mk12 Mod0 SPR

USMC SAM/R (It's currently getting a GG&G front sight installed since the KAC isn't available)

USMC DMR (crappy pic)

MK11 Mod0

I don't have an Army DM Rifle but will eventually have a Recce.

Wow, Lawman, nice guns!

Thanks, the SPR was built by MSTN, I built the SAM/R using a Compass Lake Krieger barrel, the DMR and Mk11 Mod0 were built by G.A. Precision.
The 3 AR platforms have no problems shooting 1/2MOA and less. The DMR, while not as accurate, has no problems passing the USMC acceptance standard of 10 shots in a 3"x3" square at 300yds and is more or less 3/4MOA.
I'm waiting on my SAM/R to come back and I'm going to start working up some 90grn loads, I may end up shooting it in the .223 class at the next 1000yd match.
