Colt AR, Case, Ammo, and Magazines $900

So my boss offered me his Colt AR-15 today. I'm unsure of the model or configuration but he said it was a pre-ban model that he bought 4 years ago from on of the FBI guys who work across the hall. Anyway, he said that he has the rifle, a bunch of mags, ammo and a case. He is looking for $900. Any idea if this is a decent deal or not? I have no clue what Colt's usually go for and I know its hard to get an idea without knowing some more specifics. Anyone want to take a stab?

depending on round count and condition, # or mags and ammo (brand ammo, USGI mags?) i think that its a good price

Says it looks like new. He put 200 through it when he owned it. Not sure about the FBI guy
