I just have the standard collapsable stock...not M4. Works for me... I'm not uber-tactical.

Most people will have the standard stock because it's what came on their rifles.

I have 1 M-4 and 1 Clubfoot Vltor. The Vltor is nice but I got a Crane saddle for my M-4 that makes it almost as nice for a little less money.

When I put a collapsible on my carbine, I went with the run-of-the-mill M4 type. It's a stock, and it collapses; that's all I need.

I only have the M4 stock, I've never handled the other ones so I can't say much about them other than I dont like the looks.

I don't have any LMT crane solely because of money issues... I've handled them and they are very natural, lil heavier (which I like) and give me the weebee jeebees in a lustful sense.

M4 x1 (son's rifle) though it wears a Command Arms saddle now.
VLTOR x2 on my LW & M4 Magpul M93B x1 on my 6.8 (I wanted the tight lockup as this was my 'precion' rifle and I also needed to balance out the medium-heavy barrel - mission accomplished!). |

I have the standard type, but I certainly wouldn't choose a different one because it's "popular." My choice would be the Crane SOPMOD.

I've had many of the old CAR and newer M4 types, and still have a few - they have served me just fine, IMHO. For years I swore not to jump on the "high-dollar stock" bandwagon because (1) I figured they couldn't possibly worth the huge price difference and (2) I prefer a fixed, A1-length stock on most of my ARs anyway. Well, I stumbled across a good deal on a used fixed VLTOR a while back and have been very, very impressed... enough that I have revisited the whole "worth the huge price difference" notion. The next collapsible stock I buy to upgrade or to build a new carbine will be a VLTOR.

Standard M4 NON-Millspec, Bushy, RRA, Cavarms.
here is my reasoning on NON-Millspec: 1. They are cheaper than stocks with the Millspec tube, you may loose the ability to change to a LMT or Voltor , but those stocks don't apeal to me anyway. 2. The NON-Millspec tube is thicker than the Millspec which in my opinion would make them stronger / more robust. it may not matter to some, but to me stringer is better. This is just my opinion on stocks it is not meant to piss anyone off. have a good one  |

I can get a mil-spec CMT from GandRTactical for less than I can a Bushy, cost is on par with a good deal on a RRA stock.
The problem is they are not stronger. The Mil-spec tubes end up being forged and turn out much stronger. |

I bought the VTLOR for my M4 LMT 14.5
 Its very nice but I would like to also try the ACE because its STONGER STRONGER THE BETTER VTLOR doesnt seem stronger than the regular TELEstocks. |

I have VLTORs ,Crane and a Standard. For the money I like the Vltor because it has the same features as the Crane but for almost half the price.

The M4 stock feels weak, flimsy, and uncomfortable to me. The CAR stock is even worse.
The Magpul M93 is decent, but expensive and complicated looking. The Crane stock has a cheek weld that must be a gift from the gods, and doesn't look overkill. The VLTOR is an excellent value with a great cheek weld, but is unforgiving when it comes to facial hair. I also think their's looks are a little space'tastic. The UBR looks like a good fit, so I can't wait until I get the chance to try one. |

As much as Vltor offers a product that competes with ours I would have to say their use of impact modifiers along with some features in it's design IS a fair bit stronger than an OEM Ribbed style stock. Here is the 5 foot drop test with 12 lbs simulated weight with an OEM ribbed stock... ribbed stock drop test In the same test the Vltor, while severly damaged (like every other stock tested) still managed to stay in one piece and even with a cracked body and bent pin was still useable in limited function. |

Just have an M4 on my first AR. Put a SOG buttpad on it, and it's pretty damn comfortable to me.
I like it fine, but will probably upgrade to an ACE SOCOM stock in the near future when I can afford to. |

Our budget wasn't that big This test was just a quickie set of tests to define a regime to build a stock testing jig that will reproduce impacts with set intensity levels. Most of the damage to a stock dropped like this one can be solved by adding a rubber buttpad which reduces the overwhelming inital impact that causes to failure. The LMT has such a pad but one can also be added to the Vltor. In short once we get the jig built we will put together some expanded tests to include the LMT |

I've had and used all of the stocks you've mentioned and more, and in the end I stayed with the M4. The reason being that the M4 stock fit my facial structure and shooting style the best. Not that the other stocks aren't well built, it is what was most comfortable to me. My advice would be to try as many stocks as you can and choose the one that is most ideal for you. What I am looking forward to now is Magpuls new CRT and UBR stock. I have a feeling those are going to be the best of the best.

I have all 4 and the 93B is my favorite, with the LMT a very close second with the Vltor and M4 3rd and 4th. I didnt have my Vltor for more than 2 weeks when it got dropped and busted a big chunk of it off. I agree with Magpul in that it would not have happened with a buttpad. But for the money I would think they would have it in the kit????

I like my Vltor stock. The ablity to use the battery compartments if desired is nice, and as for the facial hait issue, tape solved that (or shaving, which ever you prefer..).
I found the Magpul stocks rather complicated to install, with spacers and what not, but they are nice strong stocks. I don't own a magpul stock, but have installed them for customers, and that is where my experience begins and ends with them. |
