Well boys.  I just ordered my 1st AR.  It's a Rock River Arms Elite CAR A4.  Got a pretty good deal from my local shop here in town.  Now I just have to wait the 4-6 weeks for RRA to get it together and shipped.  A quick question though:  What ammo are you guys using at the range?  Looking for something resonably priced yet still quality.  Thanks.

Congrats on the new rifle.  You should be pretty happy with it :)

Winchester makes great range ammo.  Go to Wal-Mart and pick up the 55 grain .223 REM full metal jackets.  They come in a 40rd Value Pack for $7.73.  Little white box.

Works just fine for me.  I usually stock up on them.

I use the cheap Russian Steel Cased Wolf ammo.  I can't afford the expensive stuff.  I get mine for about $130 per 1000.   13 cents a round is pretty damn good.   I've never had any misfeeds, jams, excessive build up or excessive wear.

Where do you get it from?  55gr?

Can't see the picture from class.

M4A1OwnsYou,
Yes... they are 55gr.  I get them from Cheaper Than Dirt . Com (.223 Ammo Link) .  I just bought 2000 more rounds this past January and the price then was only $64.97 per 500.... so it was $129.94 per 1000.  Shipping is very reasonable from them... and very fast.  No signature needed upon delivery either.  You get that warm fuzzy feeling of having a couple thousand rounds of ammo waiting for you when you get home from work.  HOWEVER.....
Hope this helps.

HOWEVER..... I just checked back on that website and they jumped their prices up to $79.97 per 500.  No idea why the price jumped so much.  But I've searched around online and it seems that while you'll find good advertised prices most everyone is sold out of this inexpensive Wolf stuff.  That's probably why cheaperthandirt.com bumped up their prices now.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.  I'll have to look into it and compare to the cheapo Winchester rounds.

Thanks for all the responses.  I've been using the WWB winchester 40s in my Glock so I know which ones you mean.  I'll start with those and sometime I'll try out the Wolf for myself.
