Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - gas system, barrel, and handguard lengths...

The image I have in my head for my next project is a 14.5" barrel, carbine gas system, low pro gas block, and midlength free float handguard.  I have a couple midlength rifles but no carbines.  Will the midlength free float handguard completly cover the low pro gas block at carbine length or will I need a rifle length handguard to completly hide it like a RECCE?

A Mid FF will usually extend right to the end of the gas block.  (It may vary a small bit depending the the type of gas block)
But usually you would need a rifle length to completely cover the gas block.

Thanks for the answer, I'll take a look at different handguards and gas blocks.
