Thinking of getting  my 20" HBar turned and possibly fluted.  Was wondering if anyone has any pics of turned barrels???  I'm really interested in seeing what they look like..

Also, if anyone knows, what is the weight difference between a turned & fluted Hbar compared to a gov. profile barrel??

Thanks!

I do not have pics of it but I picked up a Bushmaster HBAR that had been turned down to gov profile that was Uoooogly as sin, but it shoots like a champ and you cannot see it under the handguards. It would be interesting to see the work from different places.

How much did that lighten it up for you? Is it very noticeable?

Anyone have any suggestions where the best place would be to get a Hbar turned and fluted?

I PMed ADCO a few days ago asking about the weight differences but he hasn't gotten back to me yet.  I'll pass it on when I know.

Here is my midlength hbar I turned down and added fluting to the front half. It went from .950 under the handguard to .740 then i turned the front section from .740 to .650 with the fluting. Excuse the cheesy spray paint as I did that as a temporary coating since I can't do parkerzing.  Waiting to test it and another barrel out, then send em out to be coated.

ADCO told me last month that fluting an 18 varmint would shave off 4 ounces.

They can take off as little as you want or as much as you want (unless it's unsafe to do so).

It's just a lathe, you keep moving the cutting insert inwards until you've cut off what you want.

Parrandero-

Any chance of a reply, that looks great and EXACTLY what I want done to my mid-length HBAR in the next week or two!

Details?

Thanks,

Bill D

CMMG does it, they call it "med con" profile.  Got my med con midlength from them, very happy.
