Anyone have a pic of a MI MCTAR-20 free float 2 piece forearm installed on a CAR-15A2?

I am thinking about finally getting a 1913 forearm but not sure what to get.

Does anyone make something that is capable of an optic mount under 200 dollars?

I was thinking about putting a 552 on the handguard

The MI 2 piece is a nice rail.  It locks together, and is a nice, tight fit.  I wouldn't use it as an optic mount, but it certainly has a sturdy feel to it.  The machining is quite nice as well.

Stick, are you referring to the MCTAR-17 two-piece handguards that are not free float or are you referring to the two-piece handguards that are free floated?

I was under the impression that as long as it was a free float rail then you should do ok with optics on them. I know why not to on non-free floating handguards.

Just curious.

The best way to mount your 552 will be to change your upper receiver to a flat top. You can get a decent one for around $100.00

If you have to keep the A2 upper, I would reccomend getting a Bernie-Cooley or PRI gooseneck mount because it will be a more stable optics platform than a non-FF forearm.

If you are dead-set on keeping the A2 upper and putting it on the forearm, your best bet is to go FF, but this will bust your $200.00 budget.

The MCTAR-20 that he mentioned in his initial post is a free float rail and it retails for $163 @ BravoCompanyUSA.

ETA: But I do agree that a flat top is a better alternative.
