Hey Creeper! I have a Garand made in 1944 and a M-1 carbine made in 1943. Both still shoot! Whoop de do! You can buy shootable Martini-Henrys today that were made before my great grandfather was born. The fact that he thinks a firearm can survive decades and still shoot is a novel thing is an indication he needs to have his doctor check his meds. I have yet to hear of a 40+ year old M-16 being rendered inoperable due to proton decay. Perhaps the aluminum recievers won't survive the ages.....oh wait, we have DC-3's flying that are made out of aluminum and are over 60 years old, so much for that hypotheses. |

DUH, its because AK47s have only two moving parts can be fired after being buried in concrete for fify years. It can also fire 5.56mm in emergencies, but the M16 can't fire 7.62x39.
