NO, it will not be worth that price tag.  Buy a Rock River Arms for half the price and it most likely is a better firearm.  Greg.

They won't cost nearly that much retail.  There have been many threads on that issue lately.  I saw one of the standard models yesterday at a local shop.  It was a very nicely done carbine from just a basic check.  It was a little more at almost 1k, than I'm willing to pay for a basic carbine, but then again this store has pretty steep prices sometimes.  They said that had the model that is all decked out in Troy and that it was pretty neat, but it moved out quickly.

I'm looking forward to seeing them on the shelves here in Central Texas.  Considering the variety of otherwise optional features they put into these new rifles, I think $900 or so would be a very good price for them, and very competitive with RRA too.  (I have a RRA midlength carbine, by the way-it's great.)

MSRP for the tactical is 1700....they better lower that price because
avg retail
lower-250
upper-400
rail system 300
troy sights 240
1190..retail sounds more ballpark for the "tactical"

The S&W AR is priced to compete with Bushy, RA etc.

Was at the York show in PA and they wanted $ 1389.00 for the Tactical Model, NOT WORTH IT!!!! Atleast for the price he was asking. I Would pay $ 1100.00 for the Tactical Model but not more than that.

Alot of people can build one with the same parts or better for less than what some dealers are asking.

I don't like the fact that Smith&Wesson or S&W is stamped all over the weapon and its accessories, makes it look dumb.

On a positive note you get  S&W's warranty with it which CANNOT be BEAT!!!

Local shop just got a S&W  M4gery type rifle in and they wanted $ 1075. I t was pretty but not worth the extra $ IMOP.

Local shop has the standard for $975.  Looks like a very nice rifle, nicer than the Bushmaster sitting next to it in the same configuration and price.

That can't be.  All the armchair gun dealers and S&W bashers here told us that the M&P15 would be grossly overpriced because of the MSRPs they saw.
