Or will the standard AR lower work?

I would think yes, you would.

yes you will need a 308 type lower , or one of the switch magazine well lowers that someone i can't remember  MGI sells

Yes.  The magazine for .308 is bigger and will not fit in a AR15 lower.

I did not see it on MGIs web sight. How much do they go for? Any problems with it? Maybe a MGI lower and a RRA .308 upper in my the future.

Thanks guys -- that's what I thought.  If all I needed was an upper, I might be willing to consider an ar-10, but if I have to get both I'd much rather have an M1A... which is what I'm going to get.

An AR15 lower is TOO SHORT (distance between takedown pins) to mate up with an AR10's upper, MGI magwell or not.

... The MGI lower with the .308 magwell is going to use a AR-15 size upper..

The guy asked about adding a 308 upper to an AR15 lower, not the other way around.

Unless the MGI magwell includes the front takedown pin hole and pin, it ain't going to work.
