That is on a 16 inch barrel and the can is an over-the-barrel mount. The flash suppressor is under that raised area.

I thought the AAC SCAR can was smaller than the M4-2000....

That looks a lot bigger...

Nevermind, it's the SCAR-SD that's smaller.

If i'm not mistaken KAC and AAC are in competition for a suppressor contract to go with the SCAR/ARM programme.

Does the can lock into some sort of shoulder like the Ops Inc. models?

There are 5 numbers engraved on the rear of the can, and the flash suppressor mount has multi-start threading which can start in 5 different positions. You can try each one and whichever has the least point-of-impact shift is the number you should always use for that specific rifle. So when you screw on the can, you start with that number at the top. The entire can mounts with ONE twist! And the number comes back to the top. Very cool.

The final production verson will not have the raised area, and will have M4-2000 style flutes at the back.

This is an over-the-barrel style can, like the Surefire, Reflex, Troy, etc.

That IS very cool indeed. I take it that this mounting system won't be compatible with the Mk17's CQB barrel then..

It was made for the sniper variant.

I assume it'll also work on a 16" bbl.?
