CLP will remove it, but you should understand that it will happen again. Sonner or later, its easiest to just live with it.
For those of us who were in the service, our weapons were so beaten that what we currently have looks like a gift from heaven, no matter what we do to them. |

ARs are like baseball bats, if you play with them they're going to get digned up.
 You should see the scratch I put in my Lauer painted tigerstriped pimp gun, that one went down so deep it's silver-ouch even I cringed at that one. I still never figured out how to get melted tarp off the end of the barrel. I figured once it was hot again it was melt off, but it looks like it's on to stay... |

It gets thrown in the a trunk, thrown in the bed of a truck.. whatever Most just rub off with oil, and the others that remain.... remain as a testament that you've used the thing... |

I downloaded a few Army.mil high-res photos of soldiers and their M4s (M4 Pr0N a plenty) and put them up as desktop wallpaper to remind me of what a real rifle has to put up with and that a tiny scratch at home isn't anything. THeir rifles are practically silver.

Its completely ruined, you have no chance to salvage it. You should save the embarassment of owning a non-safe-queen rifle and sell it to me for 87 cents.

If you really want to be cool, just tie it behind your car and drive down a gravel road for .87 miles!
 Just learn to live with it. If you want a purdy gun to look at, get one and keep it in the safe! But you also have to have one to shoot! Sounds like you need another AR! Any excuse for another one, right? |

Black nail polish works fairly well. No, I'm not into "goth". I found that black nail polish works well on black cars with paint chips. Nail polish also works well as marking compounds for car repair/mods. As long as its prepped properly, black nail polish will take a decent amount of solvents to remove.

I just massage some CLP to get the brass markings off the deflector. As for the black coating that chips off the deflector, I leave it as is.

You can usually find the AR-15 mark remover at your local gun store right next to the women's gun purses and Lady Smiths.

My dad's been getting into AR's and I know for sure one day when he does anything to warrant it, he'll scratch it. And he's going to ask me the same dang thing!!!! And all of these responses, among others are going to go through my head and I'm going to have a melt down!!!!!!!!!!!!! I won't be able to respond because I'll be too busy laughing.
