Has anyone observed any increased wear in the upper receiver notch when using the steel PRI Mil big latch?

Probably should have used a poll for this. Regardless, I've never had any issues w/ the PRI nor have I read of any. The Badger gen 1 is the only tac latch I've had bad experiences w/ in this manner as have MANY others. The PRI is good to go.

Shortly after the badger latch came out they changed their design so it does not dig into the upper reciever anymore. It would only do that when laying the rifle on the left side against your body or when pressure was appliedto the latch itself. You should be ok with either latch now...

don't kknow if I'd say it came out "shortly" thereafter but yes there is a gen 2 and I haven't heard complaints about it.

Poll added!

Does anyone know what was changed to reduce wear? Did they just polish the surface?

Denny posted that and showed how the Gen I and Gen II Badgers now have the sharp pointy edge removed, as does the PRI. However, I have a Power Custom steel extended latch with the same style/shape latch end and I even polished it. It wasn't eating into the aluminum receiver, but it was wearing out the finish and made it shiny. The stock aluminum latch wasn't doing much to damage the receiver. I guess I stick with stock.

I'm going to give the big latch a try. The stock latch works fine for bench shooting and stuff, but since my carbine has to be a go-to rifle, I'm going to give the PRI a shot. I've slipped a few times with the stock CH/latch and its not fun.

I installed the PRI latch and wow, I should have gotten one years ago. Heck, it should be standard on all charging handles.

I switched to the PRI Big latch after a Badger one was rounding off the edge on my upper.
