Norinco did make an AR15 clone rifle, though they are quite rare in America being more common in Canada due to differences in legislation. They look much like a SP1/A1 except they have a distinctive handguard and pistol grip. Even if you HAD wanted to buy one years ago, I don't think you would have been able to due to the limited number imported and import restrictions. Around one thousand of these rifles were found in a warehouse in San Diego about a year ago which had been imported before the ban, and I believe they were sold. Small Arms review did a write up these a few months back and they gave it a favorable review.

I only have experience with Norinco AK's but if their AR's are held to the same 'quality standard' then I dont want one. They are showy but if like their AK's, their internals suck and they cant shoot worth ***t.
BTW: I like the militaria. Post more. |

Norinco products are quite common here in Italy (M16A1 & M14 clone) since american AR15 are expensive and hard to find.

they are some of the best for the prices--but tough to find around here anymore h/w, Norincos will be the only thing that i will admit that is made in china that was actually made decently (everything else for sale here thats made in china has pretty poor manufacturing)

Norinco AK's suck. The parts inside are made of sh** steel and crumble before a pallete of ammo is shot through it. THey are the crappiest AK throw-togethers I have ever used. But then again I am used to a Robinson Armament AK.

italian import laws aren't that bad...not great but not too bad. now the real problem are US export laws...after 9/11 is gettin harder and harder to export rifles. PaoloOrange is trying to import here in Italy a Colt MT6400 and he's having a lot of problem with the US State Dept. |

while there are some crappy ones (like the banned ones) when they were available, noricos were the best priced AKs for the money--true not as good and tight as the robarms, but good enough |
