Did you get this pic from a cat burgler that snapped the photo on top of the filing cabinet with his micro spy  belt buckle camera while the guards were closing in?

Are they on the Market or just a Military Offering, in case the military adopts Gas-Piston mainstream?

Is that the M5 that they had a while back?

Is Colt buying the HK416 patents in an effort to stave off M16/M4 replacement?  Looks like the same shape, size & weight.

Sorry, not really even close .  The HK416's weight is 7.7lbs the colt it reported at 7.03. Sites and rails look to be completely different.

is HK even going to sell to civys?

for those that are know/concerned how would an HK upper effect the parts count of a regular ar15? would this be a non complience issue, or is this manufactured at the US plant that does not exist yet?

none the less, nothing new, POF and LW have been doing this for a while, nothing more than other compaies jumping on the bandwagon hoping to get a share of the market,

compition is great, bring those prices down boys

I noticed they made a point of noting that it's got a "cartridge case deflector" and an "ejection port cover." Wow!!! That is super-neato!!!!!

Yeah, it looks like the M5, but with a different handguard. It's impossible to tell with that Crappy picture.

I guess we'll wait until the shot show to see the real thing.

Colt developed some of the first gas piston driven AR's.  The Model 703 was actually their intended M16A2.

Wasn't Winchester's piston set up earlier?

I am actually heartened by this news. If Colt does in fact build this M5, surely the clone manufacturers will be forced to follow suit. Bushmaster, RRA, Olympic, DPMS, Stag and all the rest will have to have their own version. Stay tuned. . .

I doubt Colt will get anything out of their prototype department, unless the Military signs a contract for Gas-Piston version.  As they are not catering to the general public.....if they do, that is great but I don't see them making anything in small 200 quantity.   They will need or want a large Government purchase to get them on the line.

Fingers Crossed.

My laim 2 cents.

Because Colt is inept. Whenever they've deviated from what they do best the newer designs have been shoody and poor performing. The Colt SSP and OHWS are perfect examples.

Lets see how the LE1020 performs in testing, but I'm skeptical of anything "new" from Colt

FOllowed by 3 pages of DPMS gas pistons are just as good if not better than Colt gas pistons..
then you wait two days and another thread "What's wrong with my gas piston" thread wherethe inevitable question will be what brand is it?

"Well it's a dpms"

I managed to get into an argument at SnipersHide over Model 1 Sales... it seems that I paid too much for my Colt, because according to them, Model 1 the same gun with a different logo.  And a tacti-cool "mil-spec" teflon finish.

Alexis de Toqueville warned us of the tyranny of the masses.  Little did he know.  Apes.
