What are the T markings on top of uppers and barrel shrouds used for? Have seen some that come with them and was just wondering what their function is.

As troopers have laser devices, red-dot optics and NV stuff, which are at times removed and later replaced the #s make it easy to index where the device was position, which can eliminate the necessity of re-zeroing.
