What is the difference between a A4 standard and the A4 CAR?

What does the CAR do or stand for??

Thanks for the info.

CAR originally meant "Coly Automatic Rifle" and was applied to their entire line.  Most people associated it with the XM-177 carbines, so all AR carbines were called "CAR"s.  Now someothercomanies are using Colt's trademark and they coluld mean anything.
