Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Carbine Spring Question

I know you measure a buffer spring in an AR rifle to determine if it's worn out or not; I would assume you do the same to a carbine spring. The military manual I have only has the info for the rifle, what would be the max/min dimensions to check for wear on the carbine-length spring?

I've never even thought about it.  They're pretty cheap, if you have any doubts I'd just replace it.

Hard to say other than it should measure.. uncompressed.. 10.25 to 11.5 inches IIRC.  I have a Wolff xtra power carbine spring in one of my ARs.. Its almost exactly 12"..

I have a (extra) carbine Bushy spring (never used) and it is 11.00 inches on the dot,
Replace it if it starts to messup or of it makes you feel better at night
