We (Las Vegas) had a police officer killed a couple of days ago by a scumbag with an SKS/AK Clone/Who knows. One of the news stations is now taking a poll on whether or not Assault Weapons should be banned. The banners are ahead right now, so its up to us to rectify things.

Gee, I wonder which way the TV station leans....I don't suppose that they have a link to the Brady Campaign under the poll could mean that they're just a bit biased? And we've all found out that the liberal news media will manually skew the results of a poll by asking the questions in a leading manner, and then simply remove the whole thing if they get a response they don't like. Not to mention the fact that "assault weapon" is their own made up term and they change the meaning of it to suit their whims.

Not only that, we've got a turncoat gunstore owner. They interviewed him and he proceeded to state that all sales should go through gunstores and background checks, because gunshows and newspaper ads were the loopholes where most illegal guns were obtained.

First of all, no one has yet said this gun was obtained illegally.

Second, its pretty obvious he wants to do a Kalifornia on us so he can make a few more bucks. Guess he never read the Constitution.

Took about 20 votes to change it 1%. We should easily be able to fix this poll.

What if the guy had run over the officer with a jacked up 4x4 truck? Would they put a poll up asking if jacked up 4x4 trucks should be banned? I mean you can buy them from individuals out of the paper.

Letter I just wrote to them.

I'm writing to you to let you know some facts about the "brady campaign" link that you have linked under the poll about banning assault weapons. The brady campaign has absolutely no problem using lies to accomplish their goals. They continually spread lies and propoganda to try and sway public opinion. I request that in the interest of responsible, UNBIASED journalism you either remove that link or add one to the NRA or even to the FBI website where actual facts can be found that show the Brady's lies. While you and I are obviously entitled to free speach I believe that as a journalists you should only report facts and let people make their own opinion.
By linking to the Brady Campaign website you are putting out lies that skew your poll and it is irresponsible to do so. If you would like I will Gladly pick apart any of the Brady lies you wish. It's easy to do so because I have truth and logic on my side. The Brady's have nothing but lies and a willing audience that seeks to villify anything other than a criminal. Some simple logic for you. Murder is already illegal. And Gun laws, only prevent those who abide by laws, however unconstitutional. Anyone willing to kill a police officer, is willing to break a gun law. I'm sorry to have to inject truth and logic here. But it was needed, I know the media usually cannot deal with that.

I thought that your letter was factual and to the point. One can only do their best to educate the uneducated. The trouble is that most people have a problem understanding a very simple concept, which is, that a firearm is a tool and is no worse or no better than the person useing it. One of these days maybe these people will wake up and say let's ban the criminals not the guns. When that day comes I will gladly hang up my badge.(But not my gun)

Thx for the support, I'm from Henderson which is pretty much a suburb of Vegas now days. This was a sad day for our local PD but what and is more distrurbing is how the media has treated this.

Edited to put out a special thx to Dusty_C: that is a work of art, it's too bad NRA can't sue Brady for misrepresentation.

One of my understandings of just one of Bradys statistics of children killed with firearms in this country includes all people under the age of 21 and does not account for where or what duties are being performed, just simply that they are firearm related deaths... Guess we've had a lot more children die overseas lately ehh?
