I have been hearing of some law enforcement services have been purchasing and using Russian Izzy made AR-15. Some other web boards have had a few mentions but no pics... They said something about the patent rights have run out and other countries are making them now..
Maybe a Norinco AR-15 could be on the horizon????

Norinco already had an AR-15/M16 type weapon as seen at the bottom of this web page: NorincoCQ

world.guns.ru/assault/as18-e.htm

"The AR-15 style rifles are made in the USA by at least dozen large companies, such as Armalite, Bushmaster, Colt, FN Manufacturing, Hesse, Les Baer, Olympic, Wilson Combat, and by number of smaller companies, many of which do assembly their rifles from components made by some other major manufacturers. M16-type rifles also manufactured outside of the USA, most notably in the Canada, by Diemaco Co. China also makes some AR-15 type rifles at NORINCO state factories."

Norico has had an AR-15 out for years (if not a decade).  You can get them in Canada.

NOT IMPORTABLE. Nothing is importable into the US from FSU nations unless it is on the specific exlcusion list.

AR15 bits and complete weapons  have been arnd are being cranked out in the Phillipines and Singapore.

I believe you are wrong about import laws regarding former Soviet Union nations.  What about all of the AK type rifles coming from Romania(SARs, WASRs, .22 trainers) and Russia (VEPRs, SAIGAs, etc.)? What about all of the parts kits and magazines coming from almost every FSU nation that manufactures their own weapons?  Lots of parts come from Asia, as well. However, there is a Chinese weapons import ban, signed into law by George Bush, which is why we will never see Norinco AR-15s and can't import anymore chinese AKs. Not being able to import Norinco AR-15s is a probably a good thing, IMO.

VEPR and SAIGA etc. are all specifically mentioned in the exemption list.  Parts and parts kits are not guns.......
Not on exemption list, may not be imported.

That is why the Tiger, which is a civvied up Dragunov, available in Canada....cannot be imported although it is otherwise as 'sporting' as a SAIGA.

ETA:- Former Soviet Union, not former Warsaw Pact.

That isn't a Russian AR15 - it is an add for a Moscow gun store chain called Arsenal that is based in Saint Petersburg that is selling Colt AR15s in Russia (thus the Colt and the pony on the side of the rifle).
