I have a DSA ZM4 (POF). There is a local guy I've seen at gunshows and his work is excellent. Is $255 for a solid color finsh job low, high or about right?

I say it is high. I am sure you can find someone to duracoat your rifle for much less. Have you thought about doing it yourself. I am sure stickman can walk you through the process.

Stick would almost certainly walk me through the process. I don't trust myself to do it and I don't want to screw it up. Stickman is one of the very few on the net that I really trust with advice. Everything he has advised me to do worked. And the things he advised me against and I did anyway, I regretted...

kinda high. Solid color job for a rifle should be more like $200 even.
you could moly resin it yourself for under a hundred bucks. |

Thanks, Stick. As I stated above, I don't trust myself to do it. I may strip my older mags and refinish those with Norrells. Maybe then I'll prove to myself that I can, or can't, do it...

We charge $200 for a complete weapon, detail strip. We use TR Gunkote, same as Wilson's Armor coat. Much more durable than Duracoat.

That's my rifle in those pics, and I can tell you that Grenadier does EXCELLENT work! Also, the TR Gunkote they use seems to be noticeably more durable than KG Gunkote or any other paint-type finish I've messed with. |

Here is mine that I did, it was my first. Technically mongo001 did the upper and I did the lower.
Should try it yourself, it is not as hard as it seems, and this is coming from a dumbass

I've kept track of your lowers in another thread. I like the craftsmanship on your receivers as well as your finishing. I'm in the "feeling it out" stage right now, but I'll keep you on top of the list. Nice to see a Texas company in the business... TS

Depends on how good he is. $200 - $250 is about average for a single color refinish from a professional refinishing company. If the guy is local & uses a quality coating (not spray paint), you can see & handle his work I'd recommend going with him. $250 + shipping is what we charge to do a single color refinish in CeraKote. there is just something about those tan Ar's, they just look awesome. Too bad I don't have the balls to do it to mine. When I do my next build I think I will have to do it, it's just something about doing it to my first/only AR that I can't paint it
