Alright, I'm a little embarassed here. so here goes.
is it possible or has anyone made a 308 lower to also accepts the 223 upper?
or a 308 upper that will use the 223 lower?
with all of the conversion stuff out there, can it be done in one lower?

if not, can you please explain to me why .

thanks in advance.

Nope. The .308 round is too long for a .223 magwell.

how about the other way around(223 in the 308 lower) with an adaptor like the 9MM ones?

Why???

308 uses a different upper receiver, and 233 lowers are dirt cheap.

Just get both!!!

It is futile to resist BRD!!!

Here's an option:
www.cobb50.com/mcr.htm

Bring lots of $$$ though...

ETA: It doesn't use standard uppers either

Take the .308 AR-10 for example. The receivers are quite a bit longer than the standard AR-15 receivers are. There would be no way to mate them together.

An affordable 7.62 NATO bolt-action side magazine fed upper that will fit on a .223 lower would be really frickin' cool, since there are way more .223 lowers out there than 7.62/.308 lowers.

Ya know I would buy something like that - even if the upper was manually operated (pull on the charging handle to load).

Seems a legitimate question. Why can't an AR10 upper be made in .223?

OMG people                 the first thing that should come to everyones minds here is MGI.    They make a quick change upper (only in the 223  length but i think 308 will be right around the corner)   And they make there modular lower where you can just change out the lower mag well   so you can have a 223 a 208   a 45   hell whatever u want  (DONT think the 308 magwell is out yet)   But TWL  is the man you need to talk to on this        and also you will not encounter better customer service than with TWL   he is the true customer service model that all other should folllow.

O  and Tom  incase your reading this   i was just thinking     hell with as much as i like the products and   put in a good word about em   i should get into selling em or something            LOL

BTW, everyone should keep an eye out for new products that are released at the SHOT Show.

You never know what might show up there, that hasn't been announced yet!

Getting my hopes up.
I wish I could make the shotshow.
