I've just recently got into target shooting and was curious how well others have got their ARs to group? Here's some pics of mine from this weekend.

Yeah, I really wish I could have kept them all together.. It was my own fault though..

Not many target shooters around or what?

Aren't you a little young to be reloading your own ammunition?

lol! well, she's my daughter. she's 6... she loads a little, but still needs help w/ sizing and primer seating.

but... that group was shot w/ factory loads, believe it or not. its a new gun, and i was just looking for a good place to start. 77's do ok, 69's do well, and 60 v-max's are at least as good - so now i know where to start the loading process at.

my other ar did this one, 6 shots, 100 yards, 60 grain v-max:

the gun w/ my niece (12) - her first time driving an ar-15, first time w/ a centerfire, and on that day, i coached her into nailing milk jugs out to 450 yards:

I was shooting at a target about 100-110 yarda away. My  groupings were about a tennis ball size. I was using an EOtech, and winchester 5.56 ammo. Is this any good? I was mainly shooting unsupported, but a couple of mags I with my magazine resting on the bench. I've shot good groupings at the same distance with a magnifiying scope, but I was wondering if this was Ok with an eotech?

Nice Shootin'
What Rifle is that, Barrel and Twist ?

thanks!

the lower is a stag, armalite lpk, rra 6-position stock (home built).
the upper features a 7-twist krieger and was built for me by 'kingpin' at www.baitshopboyz.com/forum... i am new to ar's, and i haven't a clue what exactly he used to build it. the upper has a 'c' and a little 'ae' kind of mark on it and t-numbers on the rail. however, the man knows how to build guns...

i've got around 100 rounds into it so far, 70 of those were from today.

i'm really into long range shooting, but i haven't had a chance to stretch this one's legs yet, but i can't imagine it will be difficult to make reliable consistent kills to 600-ish yards w/ this one. the other one has already made kills to 540 yards.

Here's a target from an NRA High Power match awhile back.  Basically 100yds, slow fire ( single round load ) prone, irons of course.  Relaxed a bit on the 9th of 10 shots and pooched the wide 9.  Probably doesn't look it but the x-ring is dime sized...

Yup. I usually put a 30 round mag into a silver dollar sized hole at 50 yards. My eyes suck, so 100 yards is a bit of a challenge for me at the moment (need new glasses).

Not my best work.

20" Oly free-float upper with "15-minute trigger job" and 16x scope. Bipod sitting at bench (I shoot better prone).

The X's are crap that I messed up (yank and early shot/poor trigger control).

FYI, the target is a 25yd. NRA Slow Fire Pistol target.

These are not the tightest 5 shot 100 yard groups and my RRA Varmit upper has shot sub .5 MOA ones, on occasion, but I do like the repeatability using inexpensive WWB 45 gr. Hp's. These were shot from the bench using a bipod and sandbags.

Nice groups everyone. Looks like I have some quite a bit of room for improvement with my rifle. And for those who asked, the barrel is the stock Bushmaster A3 Shorty HBAR with 1 in 9 twist, shooting reloaded Black Hills 52gr Ballistic Tips.

Only group I have a picture of.  The rifle certainly shoots better than I.

I built this tack-driver myself on the cheap.  After spending over $3000 on my last "precision" rig (you can see that one here), I decided to build a more economical version.  I have around $1100 in it including the Colt/B-Square mount that was given to me by a friend.  Here she is with a few groups I shot today (100yds, sandbag rest, 77gr SMK's from Black Hills and HSM, Nikon Buckmaster 14X optic).  Not too shabby for a cheap rifle
