I'm pretty new to guns.  I have a Ruger 10/22 now and that's it.

I have always been a huge fan of firearms and always LOVED the M16/M4/AR15 style.  So I'm looking to build one soon.

Do they require a lot of maintenance?

I think I'm gonna get the complete lower from Stag arms, or maybe the stripped and use the instructions on here to build it myself.  And I know somebody off another forum that is going to build the upper for me and send it from Texas.

What do you think?

You just need a .38 and you'd be all set

(sorry old joke around here)

No.  I can clean mine in 15-20 minutes.

Get the completed lower from Stag.

But I'd say either buy a complete upper from Stag, or build it yourself.  Why have someone else (unless they are a dealer and will stand behind their product) build it for you?
