the giveaway from me was the "AUTO" on the selector switch with a Colt/Armalite man. tag on it.

Airsoft is like playing with spitwads.... you really want to throw rocks, but just don't have the balls.

The gun may be airsoft, but the silencer is 100% real. Never been so positive of anything in all my life.

Do airsoft manufacturers pay for the rights to use logos like Colt or Armalite or in this case Knight's?  Just curious.  MJD

air soft.

Between the goofy aimpoint setup, backwards BUIS, the sling that appears to inhibit the use of the charging handle, the rail mounted 203, and the A2 stock.

And being clean with white lettering

I used to have a similar airsoft.  It's called the SR-16.  It's the limited edition M4A1 that Tokyo Marui Makes.  has the knights logo and the receiver is darker, also it's a flat-top upper.

yes airsoft people will copy the manus.  In the states, they ship the guns to you with the boxes cut up so no logos are on the box.  THEN they put some glue or gue over the logos/marks.  You remove those and you're set.

Airsoft looks VERY real IMHO.  If you guys glanced you woulda thought that sucker is real.

Yeah, but that doesn't look like the rail-mount 203 setup I saw.  Now the A2 stock looks wrong, and who the hell puts an A2 stock with a 14.5" M4 cut barrel? I'm pretty sure KAC doesn't.

The backward BUIS wouldn't be a disqualification on its own, you ought to see some of the jacked up ways people rig modular rifles here in-theater. As for the F'ed up riser block on under the Aimpoint, I actually DID that with my first '68 here in the 101st in '99. It was before they found the money to get us CompM2's, and the CompM I had had a busted elevation adjustment to the point the red dot fell in the middle of the FSB to be on paper at 25 meters. I had to put a nine-dollar Tapco or similar block underneath it to get it to clear the front sight as there were no other 68's available and the CSM wanted all of them mounted.

Boom.

I've held a few, the balance and cheek weld of a full stock is the reason I got an A2 Lower.

Most of airsoft is 99% based of something that exists, prototype or otherwise. And that is an "SR16-M4" from Tokyo Mauri as previously stated. And the guy that owns it has more money then brains. Because you could have easily build 1-2 rifles with what he spend on accessories. I should know. I own a few myself (stock ones).

For future reference, most real gun stocks are a composite of some kind and are matte in color. Airsoft on the other hand is plastic and the finish wears off over time leaving a VERY shiny black plastic, like on his stock.

the fact that we would hesitate to say real or fake is proof positive these rifles will get someone killed one day

The kid here in the Florida High School shooting recently was waving an Airsoft (Baretta 92 IIRC) when SWAT dropped him...........for good.

Linky, linky

Another blatant ripoff by our Asian counterparts.  Check out the receiver description about the middle of the page.  If you can tell from the pic, good for you.  I can't.

Oh, BTW, I googled "airsoft ar receiver knight" and this was the first hit.

Added:  Airsoft suppressor linky.  Google is your friend, even at $400+ a share.

Airsoft has its uses.

I have a g18c (Electric) that I shoot at the cat whenever it jumps on the counter..........

I've also used it to make sure people aren't complete fucktards before I let them shoot with me at the range. They have to shoot this for a while and if they shoot me or sweep me theres no way in hell they are getting a laoded gun. Lcukily a friend hasn't pointed it at me yet.

Also, you guys are assholes. Never say these things don't hurt. Shooting myself in the leg left a damn bruise!
Link Posted: 1/24/2006 3:30:10 PM EDT

Shot yourself in the leg?  Sounds like you should "lend" your friends your real firearms for awhile and stick to the airsoft.  I guess unless you just wanted to know what it felt like to be hit with an airsoft BB, but in that case, I would have taken the CATS word for it.  Just remember, "You'll shoot your eye out kid!"

I just got a 9 buck 6mm BB rifle from Cheaper than Dirt for my son....it's mine now. Cheap (real)red dot and no cat or chicken is safe.
On a serious note, in Houston for the NRA show I walked in to a booth to look at a tricked out Armalite AR....the sales man walked up and had an Airsoft shirt. Armalite sold 'em the rights.

Suprised nobody noticed lack of the Auto Sear pin above the happy switch.

The backwards KAC 300 Mt. and PRI Type mount sitting on the $5 Chi-com riser are funny too.

I do feel for the people(not the Delta wannabes) that live in a country where all they can own are these, however.

Given only one picture to look at, and it is a side view, it would be hard to speculate on the radius of parts.

Typically airsoft guns have:
1. Wider pistol grip (to accommodate a motor).
2. A cover below the pistol grip (covers the motor inside it).
3. No gas tube (but aftermarket parts and other manufacturers have been making gas tube replicas lately)
4. Plastic Receivers (hard to verify from a photo).

There's no picture of the opposite side. If there was one, I could list some more clues.

Another clue that has been overlooked was the KAC QD type sound suppressor. It looks like a very bad replica:
1. The quick disconnecting latch's bottom surface is too rectangular. You'll need a picture to really compare it.

2. The holes on the sides of the suppressor appears too small or widely spaced. The holes also seem to be drilled unto the suppressor itself rather than have a fully separate piece (suppressor heat shield) floating over it.

3. The KAC QD suppressor is mounted upsidedown. The KAC suppressor attaches to the Knight's type flashhider, which has a notch at the bottom. As you insert the suppressor, it will twist. As it gets attached, the QD latch will be on the top, facing the sky. In the supplied picture, it would appear it was make by ICS. I Chih Shivan www.icsbb.com

About copyrights, some airsoft companies have been legally getting permissions to use trademarks. ICS, a Taiwanese company, had acquired permissions from Olympic Arms and Colt (even Kalashnikov for fans of those guns). While Classic Army, a Hong Kong company had aquired licenses from Armalite. Most airsoft companies don't have permissions to use trademarks and logos of their real counterparts.
