Someone I know got this as a Vortex, but it sure doesn't look like one.

Anyone know what it is?

Who did you get it from?

It isn't mine.  A guy I know in Canada said he ordered a Vortex.  He got it, installed it and sent me some pics of it.  I think some company called Wolverine was where he ordered it from.
Who the hell knows.

Holy shit, stickman doesn't even know what it is.

Check this thread: www.ar15.com/content/page.html?id=124, should cover your question.

Hi, I'm the guy with the strange vortex.  I read the thread but it doesn't seem to answer the question.  I got it from wolverine supplies in canada.  They won't be back until jan 3rd, so no answer from 'em till then.

I saw similar vortexes on the web, so it's not an older model.  Look carefully at the spikes at the end of the flutes,  they are sharp compared to the flat spikes on the thread and the flutes don't get thiner at their base.

So what the hell did I get???

Sucks to see people get ripped off when they order stuff.  I would send it back and tell them you want a refund.

Hell, I'm still looking for the flash hider that will turn my muzzle blast into the Grammaton Cleric symbol.

Yeah!  Equilibrium!!!  But unfortunately, I still don't master the gun kata, so I have to be as stealthy as possible...

Looks like somebody got a little too happy with the pencil sharpener.

Thats a lot better than what I was thinking.  Looked kinda like one of my ex wifes tampon applicators.

Just keep practicing man. It took me a long time. It was only the other day that I walked down a hall and killed 30 guys with G-36s without even getting hit. It was pretty fun.......

Wohhhh!  I disagree on that! hink
Well anyway it's coming of the AR.  A guy at Smith told me it's a 9-10 year old model and it doesn't seem like they manufactured the one I've got.  So I'll get in touch with my dealer and work it out in a civilized way... hainsawkill.gif

Well  I've got news.  This Vortex is made by a Canadian company called "Dlask".  Wolverine orders from them 'cause importing Smith products would cost twice as much due to permits and export fees.  Wolverine told me they never had any complaints about their products and that they are of good quality, unless they wouldn't do business with that company.

I asked Dlask about their Vortex since I didn't know the brand.  I got a reply from the pres. that the vortex is the same as the Smith's and is made of steel.  I'm 100% behind canadian products, but I guess I'll see at the range how it does...when the snow melts!

If you want to know more :
Dlask Arms Corp.
