11.5" carbine that's going to be used inside 50 to 75 yards? fixed carry handle?
then I would go with a compact acog 1.5x... I have one with amber dot (red would be even better) and I'm 100% satisfied with it |

Did you get the 1.5x16 or the 1.5x24? Is there really a difference between the x16 and x24 that's noticeable?

I have the 1.5x16 (TA44-5) but I have never tried the 1.5x24.
according with trijicon web site the 1.5x16 has a shorter Eye Relief and a larger Field of View than the 1.5x24 |

At that range with that barrel length go for the Aimpoint Just my 02 |

+1 but i use a ta47r2 red triangle on my 9mm carbine  does great up cose for cqb once you get use to the bindon concept |

You have to watch out on some of these compact ACOGS; they have very short eye relief.

I bought a full size acog ad I was issued a compact one, the compact one is a lot better for upclose personal stuff from what I can tell. you bring that puppy up to your eye and the triangle goes right to poor hajis head, easy days But I will have to play with the fullsize one more once i get home before i can give a better review. I say inside of 100 meters the compact is better, but I like mine mounted on the rail. the front sight post is visble but blurry and doesnt get in the way

I did not feel the 1.5X improved my abilty to hit the target at range and I felt it reduced my speed considerably. I would get the 2X as a minimum magnification. The 3X has as short of an eye relief as the TA31 but it has less FOV and the rear of the scope sits further forward if you are using a BUIS. Id get a 2X or TA31.

I've never been in combat and probably won't be anytime soon, but I wouldn't consider going into battle with a magnified optic with only 16 millimeters of glass. Again, that's just an average shooters opinion.
As far as the Compact ACOG's, I think the only one I'd begin to even consider at those ranges would be the 1.5x24 model. Then again, I'd rather have an Aimpoint or an EOTech. JMO. |
